I am currently working on a modern retelling of Ariadne and the Minotaur, set in a fictional 1950’s-style city where Minos uses McCarthyism-like tactics to round up Athenian immigrants and throw them in the labyrinth to ‘protect his city from dangerous illegals’. His daughter, Ariadne, disagrees with her father’s politics and is pushed to a breaking point when her secret boyfriend, Theseus, is unlawfully detained at a protest and sent to the labyrinth to face the ruthless warden known as The Bull. I plan to accompany this story with an original soundtrack to create an immersive yet accessible musical theatre experience for people who may not have access to live theatre.
