Ashley Abitz
Ashley is an MFA student in poetry at Emerson College. She holds a BFA in poetry from Texas Tech University, where she received the Stephen Ross Huffman Poetry Award in 2021. Her poems have appeared in multiple journals, including The Dewdrop and SQN, where she was selected as a finalist in their Inaugural Poetry Competition. Her critical writing has appeared in Fork Apple Press and elsewhere. She serves as Art Director and Print Editor for Redivider.
While in residence at the Writers’ Room of Boston, I will be working toward my first full-length poetry manuscript. My current project explores the tensions between inheritance and autonomy—how memory and people shape identity. I engage with voice, familial expectation, and the complexities of female consciousness, challenging what it means to bear witness as a daughter, woman, and poet.
